2014 Ford Edge

Three engine choices and four trim packages equal one versatile midsize crossover

Thanks to its refined handling, efficient drivetrain, high-quality interior and low total cost of ownership, the Ford Edge, available here at Antelope Valley Ford Lincoln Mazda in Lancaster, California, has been a hit with buyers and industry experts alike. Just recently, U.S. News and World Report named the 2014 Ford Edge “Best 2-Row Midsize SUV for the Money,” further illustrating the outstanding value of this five-passenger crossover.

Equal to its value, the 2014 Ford Edge (MSRP $28,100) is extremely versatile. It offers two V6 engines and an EcoBoost® four-cylinder, plus SE, SEL, Limited and Sport trims, to meet a wide variety of needs and budgets. Standard in all but the Sport is a 3.5-liter V6 engine with Twin independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) that sends 285 hp and 253 lb/ft of torque to the front wheels and returns  an impressive, EPA-estimated 27 mpg highway. Standard in the Sport is a 3.7-liter V6 engine that ups the power to a best-in-class 305 hp and 280 lb/ft of torque.

Also available in SE, SEL and Limited trims is a twin-turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter EcoBoost® inline four-cylinder with Ti-VCT that delivers 240 hp and 270 lb/ft of torque while returning a sedan-like 30 mpg highway. The EcoBoost® inline-four comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the two V6 engines come with six-speed SelectShift® Automatic transmissions that offer manual control. The six-speed that comes with the 3.5-liter V6 has a “Sport” mode, and the six-speed in the Edge Sport includes paddle shifters. The Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which can proactively transfer torque from side to side as well as from front to back, is available with both V6 engines.

Thanks to its four-wheel independent suspension, AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ and less than 4,000-pound curb weight (EcoBoost® models), the Ford Edge has uncanny handling prowess for a midsize SUV. Once behind the wheel navigating tight turns, drivers might mistake the Edge for an evenly balanced sedan. For even more handling precision, the Edge Sport has a sport-tuned suspension, exclusive 22-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel paddle shifters and special exterior styling touches.

The sleek, wind-swept profile of the Edge effortlessly cuts air to improve both fuel efficiency and reduce interior cabin noise. Active Grille Shutters beneath the prominent chrome grille further reduce drag and improve fuel economy.

Inside the Ford Edge there is plenty of space for five-passengers and all their cargo. With second-row seats in place, the Edge can hold 32.2 cubic feet of luggage; with the second-row seats folded flat, there is 68.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Rear-seat passengers enjoy reclining seatbacks and ample legroom.

The popular SYNC® with MyFord Touch™ keeps drivers fully connected without distracting them from the road. Featuring full voice command, an eight-inch color touch-screen in the center stack and a convenient 4.2-inch LCD screen in the instrument cluster, the system gives drivers control of information and vehicle function settings – like audio, climate and navigation – via simple voice commands or buttons on the steering wheel.

To help keep all drivers in the family safe, the standard Ford MyKey™ system provides programmable maximum vehicle speed and stereo volume control, in addition to other safety controls, and is a great feature for families with new teenage drivers.

To make driving safer and more enjoyable, the 2014 Ford Edge offers available driver aids that include a rear backup camera; Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Rear Cross-Traffic, alert for better visibility and increased confidence when backing out of parking spaces; and Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support, which use radar to safely maintain distance from vehicles ahead. Standard Hill Start Assist prevents rollback on an uphill when starting from a stop, especially useful when taking advantage of the 3,500-pound towing capacity of the 2014 Edge.

The Ford Edge boasts a long list of standard and available features. Every Edge comes standard with tinted rear windows, four 12-volt power points, 17-inch alloy wheels, the 4.2-inch LCD instrument panel screen, a six-speaker sound system, full power accessories, air conditioning, cruise control and more.

For the ultimate in luxury, the fully loaded Edge Limited features leather upholstery; heated front seats; a Media Hub with two USB ports, audio and video input jacks and an SD card reader; 12-speaker Sony stereo with HD Radio™; SYNC® and the MyFord Touch™ system; and available options like a Panoramic Vista Roof™, power liftgate, navigation, rain-sensing wipers and keyless ignition.

No other midsize crossover offers the versatility, power, efficiency, interior roominess and value of the 2014 Ford Edge. Come in today and to see and drive the new Ford Edge for yourself.
