Vehicle Preview: 2015 Ford Expedition

The all-new 2015 Ford Expedition, on sale soon here at Antelope Valley Ford Lincoln in Lancaster, California, brings new life to the full-size, eight-passenger SUV segment with two wheelbase lengths, advanced technology, premium luxury and a more efficient, more powerful drivetrain that incorporates direct fuel injection and twin turbocharging to deliver V8 power with V6 fuel economy.

Proven in the F-150 pickup and new for the redesigned 2015 Expedition, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine replaces the outgoing 5.4-liter V8, providing an outstanding balance of muscle and efficiency. In the Ford F-150, this 3.5-liter EcoBoost® delivers 365 hp, 420 lb/ft of torque and 22 mpg highway, and similar performance is expected for the 2015 Ford Expedition when it is released later this fall. The EcoBoost® V6 will be paired with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic® transmission with manual shift control. Available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the 2015 Ford Expedition will be able to accommodate a wide range of requirements.

To enhanced both towing and off-roading, a new Truck Apps system provides tools accessed via steering wheel to input specific information like types of trailers used for towing, allowing the driver to save specific Integrated Trailer Brake Controller settings for each type of trailer. A standard rearview camera makes backing up and hitching a trailer easier than ever before. Off-road tools include displays of lateral, vertical and turning radius, as well as 4x4 and traction control status.

The independent multi-link rear suspension features an available load-leveling option, and for improved steering feel, an electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system can automatically offset pulling or drifting in crosswinds or rough road conditions for safer, more predictable driving.

The 2015 Ford Expedition will be the first Ford to offer Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD), an advanced suspension system that uses electronic sensors to monitor steering, braking and body motion. CCD then adjusts suspension responses to deliver tight, responsive handling no matter what the conditions are.

Redesigned inside and out, the new Expedition features bold exterior appointments including a new grille and lower front fascia, standard LED foglamps and available power-retractable running boards. Spaciousness and luxury are the themes inside, where you’ll find premium Brunello leather upholstery and chrome and wood accents on the new Platinum trim. A new King Ranch trim ups the luxury ante even more with exclusive Mesa leather-trimmed upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats with 10-way power control. Available interior LED ambient lighting illuminates the front and rear footwells, console bin and cupholders in a choice of seven colors.

In addition to luxury, the 2015 Ford Expedition is also loaded with technology like the SYNC® with MyFord Touch™ system, push-button start and convenient safety features like radar-based Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert. SYNC® with MyFord Touch™ includes an eight-inch center-stack LCD touch-screen and two 4.2-inch color LCD screens for easy viewing right from the instrument cluster. Offering full voice control of phone, audio, text and navigation, SYNC® keeps the driver connected without distractions. An available 12-speaker, 390-watt Sony Audio System features a second row sub-woofer and speed-compensated volume control for outstanding audio performance.

The Expedition interior is spacious. There’s ample room for eight passengers, and access to the cargo area is made easy by the available PowerFold® third-row seat that folds completely flat into the floor at the touch of a button. The third row also folds/splits 60/40, enhancing interior versatility. The standard 119-inch wheelbase provides 108.3 cubic feet of cargo space with second- and third-row seats folded flat, while the 131-inch long-wheelbase Expedition boasts a gargantuan 130.8 cubic feet of room.

From the sporty XLT to the sophisticated and luxurious Limited, Platinum and King Ranch trims, the much-anticipated 2015 Ford Expedition will fit a wide range of needs and budgets. Come in today to learn more about the 2015 Ford Expedition, and be among the first to drive one when they arrive later this year.
